While not being a sports enthusiast, going to professional games is fun for the atmosphere, as well as the game. Plus, I'd never been to a CHL one before, though in the '70s I went to a few Rangers games at Madison Square Garden.

The crowd on this night was a bit subdued compared to seeing the Rangers (especially if they were playing the Islanders), but it was an important one. It was the penultimate one for the season, and the last home game. They needed to win (and Calgary to lose) in order to get into the play-offs.

Before the game, they had some awards, and they let some kids (called Timbits) play on the ice, which was a hoot as they slid all over the place.

We were sitting over to one side, and the netting covered half our view, which made photographs difficult. Out of 270 shots, these are the ones that are usable.

It was a tense game, and the Blades did win 5-3, but in the end so did Calgary, so the Blades were out until next year.
