Lanzhou is located in the Northwest area of China, closer to Tibet. It is very hot in the summer, but also quite dry. The city is surrounded by desert and a few mountains. It's quite modern, relatively speaking, with tall buildings and the Yellow River flowing through it. It also has quite a large Muslim population, so there are some splendid mosques around the city. We were fortunate enough to have some people tour us around, so some of the photos of the town are taken through a car window. You may notice some reflections and glares.
Pictures can be enlarged by clicking on them. Comments will be made occasionally by me throughout.

I'm sure at one time this was a head-turner, but now it's old and dated. |
This is what many of the street lights look like. |
For some reason, cell phone towers fascinate me. |
