The Bell Tower is one of the better known tourist spots in the country, part of the great City Wall. It especially attracts tourists from within China, more than from the West. It is one of the oldest and most famous sites in China outside Beijing.

There were so many tourists, it was impossible to take a photo of the bell without someone else posing. That's the Drum Tower in the background to the right.

View from one of the lower tiers of the Tower. Notice the smog in the background.

There was a beautiful music interlude with traditional instruments from the period (320 BCE or so). Songs included folk songs and "Old Lange Syne."

Lots of two-wheel vehicles that apparently don't need to obey many traffic laws.

Gypsy cabs; we did not take one because they don't give receipts.

If it's a major tourist spot, Starbucks and Haagen-Das can't be far behind. There were also numerous KFCs, Pizza Huts, Prada, D&G, and Rolex. Welcome to the West, China.

A bicycle tour.

Modern buildings with a classic theme.

Photo taken by Victor. Proof I was there, I guess.
